Wednesday night roll, September 4 2019.
September. I know, right? Where did the summer go and why in the hell can’t we have long days all year long. Screw global warming, we need some other alteration of natural happenings like a slowing of the tilt of the earth’s axis.
The days are getting too short for long routes, so tonight we’re going to do a quick out and back to Lithopolis. But along the way, we need to work on single paceline exchanges. It is an essential skill that will help you get better control and strength.
Paceline training needs to start in small numbers. That way, the exchanges are simple, and you can learn to work together as a group to control your speed.
It also helps to have a few words running through your head as you follow your line: I’d suggest you think about – Control, consistency, no surge.
If those don’t work for you, any Coltrane is a personal favorite.
So tonight we’re going to break into smaller groups and ride as a couple of pacelines. I’m thinking groups of three on the way out, and six on the way back.
Here are some resources to help put you in the right frame of mind.
